Junior Class Council Hosts Grade School Dance
By LeAnn Vance
On November 20th, the junior class council hosted a grade school dance at Dominican as a fundraiser for this spring’s prom. The junior class was concerned they would not be able to come up with the money to fulfill their hopes for prom, but their recent fundraiser eased their worries. Over 280 kids came to dance and bond with their future classmates from 7-9pm. The junior class ended up raising over $1,000 by the end of the night.
After inviting students from over fourteen schools in the Dominican area, the response was enormous. The students were charged a $5 entrance fee, and concessions were sold as well. As an added bonus, the basketball team generously donated the extra food that was left over from their previous banquet to sell.
A few Dominican students also attended the dance to give their support and assist. Sophomore, Caitlyn Flores, who chaperoned the dance exclaimed, “I was so happy the dance was so successful. I hope the juniors are able to have an amazing junior prom.”
Junior James Luy, one of the DJ’s who helped at the dance, felt that the event was, “ridiculously awesome.” He also said that, “it was an amazing success because so many kids showed up. We made a ton of money and it should help prom be [a success].”
Congratulations to the junior class council for pulling off such a great and profitable fundraiser. Hopefully this year’s prom will be everything they hoped.

With so many other schools in the area you should run a charity date auction through Prom Date Depot. Our student council did one and we raised over a thousand dollars for prom.
