Preparation for New Athletic Season Has Begun
By LeAnn Vance
The snow melting and the temperature is slowly creeping higher. This can only mean one thing: the spring sport season is about to begin. The baseball, softball, track and field, boy’s tennis, and girl’s soccer players have already started conditioning for their upcoming season. These players are hopeful that this year will be successful, especially since the winter sports season has been so exciting.
The varsity boys’ baseball team is already showing signs of a strong season. The boys have attended a few open gyms in the past few Sundays and hope to get in shape for their upcoming practices. Junior James Luy, captain this year, is expecting to have a very good season. “We have a lot of talent this year with a mostly junior starting nine,” he says, “and hopefully a sophomore or two will be on the team.”
“My hope is that we get deep into playoffs. We should hold pretty well in conference this year,” he explained. James is also grateful because the team has, “a really great senior leadership,” which will be very helpful in terms of teamwork and respect.
Baseball is not the only sport that has started a little ahead of schedule; the softball players have had a few meetings to discuss their season as well. These sports, however, will not go into full swing until the current girls and boy’s basketball seasons have ended. Regardless, remember to come out and support the Knights at all of their games this upcoming season.
