Knights Football Breaks Through to Playoffs

Written by Bo Bennett

The Dominican Knights’ football season ended on a successful note, with the team making the playoffs for the first time since joining the WIAA. The Knights proudly ended their football season 5-5, losing in the first round of the playoffs to top-seeded Columbus High School.

We follow up with standout wide receiver George Wong who was injured during the Racine Lutheran game but finished the season with a positive outlook. Commenting on how his wrist feels after a few weeks of rest, George states, “[It’s] a strange, odd feeling when [my wrist] is in the cast, but it gave the team motivation to play harder for me.”

The second team all-conference linebacker Daniel Walton looks back and reflects on his senior year with the Knights football team, commenting, “I enjoyed the season, and it was a lot of fun. [I’ll miss] being with the team and hanging out with the guys during our down time.”
With a strong senior class leaving, the Knights look to have some underclassmen step up and fill the roles of those seniors for next season. Starting freshman Ben Jelacic says, “the season was a BLAST! I’m looking forward to putting work in with my boys, mainly Big Smoove (Anthony Grafton Jr.)”

The Knights had many accomplishments this season and are excited for the up-and-coming season.
